Biography

Amanda began working at the Okanagan School of Education, UBC, in 2019. Previously she worked at the City of Kelowna where she was responsible  for developing strategic communications plan and delivering tactics for the Active Living and Culture Division as their Communications Advisor. Prior to that she was the Digital Communications Consultant where she was one of the project managers for the City of Kelowna website redesign launched in 2016.

She has an Advanced Social Media Strategy Certificate from Hootsuite Academy.

She was a volunteer English Teacher in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from August 2013 to January 2014.

Responsibilities

Corporate Communications, Media Relations, Social Media, Student Engagement, Student Recruitment and Marketing.

A Proud Moment

Whether completing a master or bachelor degree, convocation is a truly spectacular time quite unlike any other.

For many, convocation is the single most important event on campus. It brings all the important people together for this joyful occasion: learners, educators, family and friends. Times of celebration and anticipation with new adventures and last good-byes are included in this very proud moment.

The Class of 2012 in the faculty of education includes over 150 members. As alumni, they join over 8,000 UBC alumni in the Okanagan and over 250,000 world-wide.

 

Dr. Schnellert was honoured at a post-AGM celebration of CATE

Leyton Schnellert is the recipient of a Recognition Award for Theses and Dissertations on Teacher Education from the Canadian Association for Teacher Education (CATE).

Awarded at the CATE post-AGM celebration, Dr. Schnellert presented some of the findings of his dissertation entitled “Collaborative Inquiry: Teacher Professional Development as Situated, Responsive Co-Construction of Practice and Learning” (Abstract).

Dr. Leyton Schnellert is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus. He teaches courses in the Elementary (ETEP), Middle and Secondary (STEP) undergraduate programs. ( more about Dr. Schnellert and his work)

The Canadian Association for Teacher Education (CATE) promotes dialogue and teacher education, research and collaboration. Its thesis awards serve to promote teacher education research and scholarship in pre-service teacher education, in-service education, and professional development.

The Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE)  is the largest organization of professors, students, researchers and practitioners in education in Canada. The CSSE Annual Conference is held in conjunction with the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
