Faculty & Staff Announcements
Congratulations Karen Ragoonaden for being awarded a SSHRC Explore & Exchange Small Grant.
This grant will support a partnered project on Mindfulness and Diversity Education: Developing Critical Reflection.
This research draws attention to mindfulness as everyday practices that position preservice teachers to consider and reflect on the multiple facets of diversity in the teaching-learning process.
Congratulations to Christopher Martin for being awarded a SSHRC Insights Grant.
This $56,185 grant will support his research on Understanding Student’s Place in Deliberative Politics of Education: A Philosophical Analysis.
This research aims to evaluate the extent to which children’s and youth’s perspectives can, and should, be included in democratic decision-making about educational values and policies. It will address the various challenges that democratic inclusion may encounter with respect to children, such as deficits in political understanding.
Congratulations to our very own Dr. Scott Douglas, 2019 recipient of the BC TEAL Honourary Lifetime Contributor Award.
A well-loved member of both the TEAL and the Okanagan School of Education community, he has made outstanding contributions to BC TEAL and the wider community in many different ways, from conference presentations and workshops to participating in BC TEAL Conference Pecha Kucha events to completing and contributing to Climb for the Cause.
Congratulations Scott! We are so fortunate to have you part of our education community!
