Description

The overarching question of my project is: what are the fundamental characteristics of effective school leadership and how are these characteristics implemented in practice?

The aim of the project was to identify characteristics and practices that are fundamental for successful educational leadership. With an abundance of examples of successful educational leadership in literature, the project offers clarity through the process of categorization. Each of the identified characteristics of: rational problem-solving, social-emotional awareness, and innovation are categorized with associated practices. From there, an analysis is provided by viewing each of the characteristics through the lenses of: the imagination, creative thinking and social justice. The interrelatedness of each of the characteristics is discussed. The project also contains professional development activities focused on cultivating leadership skills relevant to each of the characteristics.
