Self-advocacy is a skill that has been proven to have beneficial results for students with designations and IEPs. This paper explores how teaching self-advocacy skills to all students could be beneficial for both teachers and students. It touches on the social-emotional as well as educational benefits that would result in the process of learning self-advocacy skills and the how-to teach these skills.

Amy Winford is a full time teacher in the Okanagan. She has taught for over 16 years in all grades and subject areas. When she is not teaching, she is enjoying being outdoors with her family.
