This capstone project takes a comprehensive view of current literature on mindfulness and examines how teacher mindfulness practices can be essential to the tone and mood of a classroom. Through an examination of personal practice, Morgen looks at the research of mindfulness and the role these practices can play in enhancing and supporting classroom management. Morgen also includes a unit plan that helps teachers introduce mindfulness into their classroom through picture books and mentor texts.


Student Biography

Morgen is a Vice Principal in School District #83. Prior to this appointment, she spent four years teaching grade 6/7 and coordinating a literacy intervention program for middle school. Morgen lives and works in Salmon Arm, BC.
