This paper presents an autoethnographic reflection on recent experiences using artificial intelligence (AI) as an educator, incorporating personal anecdotes to illustrate the motivations behind engaging with this emerging technology. It includes a review and analysis of literature and media to provide a snapshot of how AI is currently being used in education and within broader social, political, and ethical contexts. The paper outlines a comprehensive learning environment and policy proposal that leverages AI to support students in co-creating and maintaining personalized education plans (PEPs), with the central question: How can we achieve educational equity by using AI to support PEPs for every student?

Colin Knight is a middle school humanities teacher in West Kelowna, British Columbia, with a passion for educational equity and innovation. His work focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into classroom practice to support personalized education plans and promote student agency. He explores how emerging technologies can foster inclusive, student-centered learning environments.
