
iSTAND Project Coordinator

Associated Costs: We will provide all necessary training, and cover travel/accommodation costs for activities as required that are directly related to fulfilling the lesson delivery for this placement.
Position Description
We are looking for leaders who wish to share their passion in relation to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields, with youth and teachers in grades K-12, throughout BC and the Yukon (or as close to Kelowna as travel ability dictates). Costs for travel would be provided through WWEST/iSTAND funds.
As a team member of WWEST/iSTAND, you would be responsible for collaborating on designing and delivering STEM/BC Education curriculum based, learning opportunities for students in K-12 education within the local area, and potentially across BC and the Yukon (depending on demand and travel availability).
If you have an interest in any area of science, technology, engineering and/or math and enjoy bringing equity, diversity and inclusion opportunities to underrepresented populations, this would be a definite fit. If you are wanting to work with a dynamic team and also enjoy working independently, this placement would be a fitting environment. Our goal is to equalize access to STEM activities, while encouraging interest through role modeling, and sparkng curiosity in STEM within underrepresented populations.

WWEST (Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science and Technology) along with iSTAND (Integrative STEM Team Advancing Network of Diversity) strive to recruit, support and increase opportunities for underrepresented people in science, technology, engineering and math. WWEST/iSTAND facilitate change through in-person, hands-on-STEM/BC Education linked lessons, for youth (K-12), which results in building equity, diversity, and inclusion for STEM opportunities.
