Position Description
Teacher candidates assigned to the Awaken program will be tasked with creating relationships with our learners, preparing and implementing experiential learning opportunities, and collaborating with program staff. Teacher candidates will have the opportunity to take personal passions and bring them alive as ‘In-Situ’ learning experiences for our students. Teacher candidates will be encouraged to challenge their educational perspectives, engage in land-based learning, and take risks in a supportive learning environment.

Awaken provides rich place & nature-based learning opportunities. We often learn on and from the land and work with local Indigenous groups to authentically weave Indigenous ways of being and knowing into our program.
We collaborate with various businesses and mentors throughout the Okanagan to engage our students in experiential learning opportunities. We acknowledge that learning and understanding occur in many ways, not just within the classroom, and incorporate this philosophy into our way of learning.
