How do some Graduate students spend their summer vacation?

Solitude on UBC's Okanagan campus

Every July and August on UBC’s Okanagan campus, one expects to be the only one enjoying the courtyard and surroundings …

Not true for many graduate students of the Faculty of Education! Summer session is the time to take advantage of courses offered only during the summer through the Summer Institute in Education. Other students are completing one of their core courses. Still others take advantage of the summer session to finish editing their theses or complete their master’s  projects with the help of their supervisors.

Summer session offers the chance to meet other graduate students

During the summer, classes are usually smaller and finding a quiet space in the library to read or research is easier. Summer session is also an opportunity for the graduate cohort from China to visit the campus for classes and to meet their supervisors.
