Description

This project addresses the authentic, often overlooked daily challenges faced by international students in Canada. While these subtle issues significantly impact student life, they are frequently neglected in traditional curricula due to their nuanced and private nature. To bridge this gap, this handbook explicitly demystifies social norms and pragmatic rules that native speakers take for granted, step-by-step. Consequently, it not only expands students’ linguistic repertoire but also guides them through the implicit cultural subtleties of Canadian life.

The curriculum begins by exploring small talk, a foundational component of Canadian social culture, bridging everyday conversational skills with academic contexts. It then transitions to practical settlement needs, addressing the real-world linguistic challenges international students encounter while grocery shopping. Finally, tailored specifically to the unique lifestyle of student cohorts, the handbook provides step-by-step guidance on navigating and resolving interpersonal conflicts with roommates.
