Why pursue the Bachelor + Education Dual Degree at UBC Okanagan?
This program is designed for students who know early on in their academic journey that teaching is their chosen career path. The dual degree allows you to weave teacher education into your undergraduate years from the start of your post-secondary experience, earning you a bachelor’s degree and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in less than five years.
Pursuing a dual degree allows you to reduce your overall course load as education credits can be used towards your elective requirements — reducing the total tuition cost. After completing all the requirements, students will be eligible for a British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate.

The dual degree program in Computer Science and Education is designed for those who want to inspire a love for technology in the next generation.
The program combines computer science training with hands-on teaching experiences, so you can develop both the technical depth and the educational skills to make complex ideas accessible and engaging. By integrating coursework, field experiences, and a shared philosophy between computing and education, the program prepares you to shape how young people think about technology, problem-solving, and the digital world.

The dual degree program in French and Education is designed for those who want to teach and inspire the next generation of French speakers.
The program combines French studies with hands-on teaching experiences so you can build both your language skills and your confidence in the classroom. By integrating coursework, field experiences, and a shared philosophy between the study of French and education, the program allows you to build a strong and connected foundation in both fields.

Language is the foundation of culture, community and learning. This innovative dual-degree program brings together teacher education and Interior Salish language study in collaboration between UBC Okanagan, Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT), and En’owkin Centre. The degree is designed to prepare the next generation of educators to sustain and revitalize Indigenous languages in and beyond the classroom.
The dual degree begins with a two-year Bachelor of Language Fluency followed by direct entry into the 11-month Bachelor of Education.
Students in this pathway will be able to use NLEK_O 332/ NSYL_O 332/ SECW_O 332/ STMC_O 332, INDG_O 405, and INLG_O 380 from their Bachelor of Language Fluency towards their Bachelor of Education, reducing the total number of courses needed. Students will also fulfill the 75 required experience hours in INDG_O 460: Indigenous Studies Internship.

The program combines mathematical study with hands-on teaching experiences, helping you build both analytical rigour and the classroom confidence to make abstract concepts click. Admission, Fees and Applying
Admission Requirements
Students interested in pursuing the dual degree pathway can declare this option:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science in their second or third year.
- Bachelor of Language Fluency in their third year.
Guaranteed admission to the Bachelor of Education requires completion of undergraduate degree requirements, good academic standing and an average of at least 65% in each term throughout the program. In addition, students require 75 experience hours working or volunteering with children or youth (preferably the age range that they wish to teach) prior to starting their first BEd class.

After applying, you will be contacted by an Academic Advisor to discuss your course pathway.
Tuition
The current per-credit rate for Tuition can be found in the Academic Calendar. To determine the total tuition amount:
Arts and Sciences:
- 120 credits × the prevailing undergraduate per-credit rate
- plus 54 credits × the prevailing Education per-credit rate
Language Fluency:
- 63 credits x prevailing language fluency rate
- plus 51 credits x the prevailing Education rate
